Indica vs Sativa vs Hybrid — Which One Is Right for You?

By the Herb Haven team · Updated July 2026 · ~4 min read

Every dispensary menu in Bangkok sorts strains into three families: indica, sativa and hybrid. Here's what those words actually mean, how each tends to feel, and how to pick the right one for your evening — no jargon required.

Indica: the wind-down

Indica strains are the ones people reach for at the end of the day. Expect a calm, heavy-limbed, relaxed feeling — great with a rooftop sunset, a mocktail and nowhere to be. If your goal is to decompress after a long flight or a full day of Bangkok, start here.

Sativa: the day strain

Sativa strains tend to feel brighter and more energetic — chatty, curious, music-sounds-amazing territory. They suit social plans: a pool table, a games night, a long conversation with a view. If you want to feel lifted rather than melted, this is your family.

Hybrid: the best of both

Most modern strains are technically hybrids — crosses that blend both sides. Menus usually note whether a hybrid leans indica (more relaxing) or leans sativa (more lively). A balanced hybrid at moderate THC is the classic first-timer pick because it's the most forgiving.

Honest caveat: the label isn't everything

Two people can try the same strain and describe it differently — body chemistry, dose, and setting all matter. That's why a good budtender asks what effect you want (relaxed? social? sleepy? creative?) instead of just pointing at a category. Treat indica/sativa/hybrid as a helpful starting point, not a guarantee.
